The Seven Colors Earth, Mauritius: Beautiful and unusual natural phenomena

The Chamarel village has the Seven Colored Earth, which is a natural phenomenon of sand and is formed by decomposed basalt gullies. The hydrolysis process making the formation and the colors are mainly due to the elements present in the soil. It is a relatively small area of sand dunes comprising sand of seven distinct colours (approximately red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow).

The Seven Colored Earths has been discovered about 50 years ago, it became even more popular and today it is one of the most visited locations in Mauritius.
